My name is Matthew Brisson
A graduate of Michigan Technological University, my goal is to build a career in video editing. Whether it's documentary film, social media promotions, or TV and movie production, constructing a final product out of quality footage is my field of interest.
While in college, I did a majority of my work through CinOptic, the Digital Media Enterprise I helped rebuild after the events of 2020. Under Dr. Erin Smith, I was part of a team of students who would take on real-world video production projects to earn school credit. By the end of my time at MTU I was the Team Leader of CinOptic and had been the driving force for two major projects (HG and ISRO, examples can be viewed in my portfolio), both of which I was involved in writing, filming, and primarily editing the final products. My time with CinOptic gave me experience with team-building, client relations, and leadership.
After graduating in the Spring of 2023, I set out as a freelance videographer and editor. My first project was creating two promotional videos for Mackinac State Historic Parks on Mackinac Island, MI. My first solo endeavor, I learned a lot about freelance workflow and time-management.
My next project was creating videos for AASLH’s Project Management for History Professionals (of which my mother happens to be the instructor for). I made a series of 20 short instructional videos which I edited, illustrated, and did some minor animation. A massive undertaking, the project management skills being taught in the course were certainly helpful tools to help me complete the project!
I am ready for whatever comes next with an eagerness to learn and a desire to output some quality content!
